Weeks 3 & 4

Weeks 3 & 4

The Paleo challenge at CrossFit Synergistics may have come to a close but I am still going strong. Now that I have experienced this way of eating and know specifically how to go about it the diet has become apart of my daily life and I am so grateful that I was able to find it and had the encouragement to tackle it for eating this way is no cake-walk. While I’m in the best shape of my life and have never ate better I know that I will keep eating this way and continuously improve.

Paleo Challenge Weeks 1 & 2

Weeks 1 & 2:
As I began the Paleo challenge I was nervous. While I was eating healthy at the time, the ideas and eating habits put forth but the Whole 30 made me apprehensive about jumping onto the bandwagon. Seeing people adopt this way of life at CrossFit Synergistics and the impressive results I began the challenge. With eating Paleo comes no dairy, sugar, processed food, wheat, or any form of bread finding a routine of things to eat became my first priority. In the morning I could no longer have Honey Nut Cheerios with milk, and for the first week this was the most difficult transition. In the morning, Cheerios would be the quick and effective way of getting breakfast and being out the door fast. Now my alternative is to have eggs in the morning which requires me to get up earlier to make, and something I have noticed over the past two weeks is how many eggs I eat in the morning has increased for what began as two eggs in the morning has shot up to somewhere around five eggs every morning. Then comes lunch, before the challenge I would have fruit, nilla wafers, and a turkey sandwich on wheat bread. That has since changed in the sense that I have cut out bread and the nilla wafers and I have increased the amount of turkey and fruit I have. For snacks throughout the day I have Paleo-friendly beef jerky which I have grown to love, roasted un-salted almonds, and fruit. Finally comes dinner, my dinners tend to have either a meat, chicken, or seafood accompanied by broccoli, asparagus, or edamame. What has truly changed in the past two weeks is the amount of food I am actually eating. Since carbs have been entirely cut out I am full less often and therefore I eat a lot more, my mom has said she has to go to the grocery store three times during the week just to keep me full! It may sound cheesy or just not real but these two weeks have undoubtedly changed my life, I feel great and the its an amazing feeling knowing that the food that I am eating is extremely good for me. I am looking forward to the next two weeks of the challenge.
